SIDEBOARDS – HALL – SOFA TABLES
Every piece tells a story. What will yours be?
These stunning pieces have been lovingly hand tooled to realize the full potential of the beautiful timber by Artisan Geoff Simpson, who loves to create unique pieces filled with history, character & life.
Entrance Table
In the late1950’s/early 1960’s teams of Timber Millers toured the floodplains of Oxley in North East Victoria, milling Red Gum timber for fence posts in Melbourne. The Millers left behind many unique slabs of Red Gum which were subjected to, and moved around by flood waters before being rescued by Geoff in 2014. The natural grains and astonishing range of colours, due to age and exposure to the elements are exceptional. The stand has been repurposed from vintage horse drawn equipment, specifically a disc plough circa 1920’s for the base and a hay binder circa 1900’s for the supports.
Sofa Table
Our client desired a tall, narrow table to display and hold a plant, book, cuppa or decorative objects behind the sofa. She fell in love with the character, colour and grains of our Natural Attrition Lightwood (Acacia Implexa) timber – a truly gorgeous Australian Hardwood which this table was lovingly handcrafted from. Custom designed and crafted to fit existing limited space, sitting flush against the wall and sofa.
Mirror Map Of Victoria
This unique piece of living art can be yours at $1,650.00. Pimpling refers to the coral-like protrusions on the outer bark of the tree and is highly prized for the unique circular patterning it creates throughout the inner timber. Geoff also highly values the outer bark for its true uniquity and beauty, keeping it intact on his creations to add a new dimension of character and individuality. The stand has been repurposed from vintage horse drawn equipment, specifically the legs from the Tines of a Scarifier Plough, the brackets from a Chisel Plough & the Tines (resting on solid Red Gum slabs) are held in situ by iron horse shoe nails – all circa 1950’s. Measurements: Height 84cm; Base Width 75cm; Top Length 153cm; Width tapers – 65cm (widest) 50cm (mid) 4cm (narrowest). The timber was sourced from a naturally fallen tree on our property, estimated to be ~200+ years old (from the diameter of the tree). The unique shape resembles a Map of Victoria when viewed in a mirror, hence the name.
Sideboard, Bar or Sofa Table
Bewitching grains and divine colour palette, a winning combination in this versatile movable piece. Perfect as a sideboard, bar or sofa table depending on your needs. The repurposed circa 1920’s binder-hub base makes this a truly unique piece.
Nutbush Yellow Box Table

This truly unique, yet functional work of art has been finished with estapol providing an extremely tough, durable finish, resistant to wear and moderate heat. Red Box Hall Table
The client desired the warmth of timber, with a contrasting industrial feel, for a bespoke Hall Table in their new home, and they are delighted with the result. ~200yo Natural Attrition Red Box timber married with repurposed vintage agricultural equipment circa early 1900’s. Base – plough disc bearing; Upright – plough tie bolt; Supports – binder adjuster locks and decorative Harrow hooks. The joy & pride our clients experience through our collaborative creative process is immensely rewarding to us.
